Having the wonderful opportunity to travel the globe with family as a child, I was exposed to the world of hotel luxury!
After completing an Advanced Diploma in Tourism and Business, I landed on the doorstep of the magical Whitsunday Island ‘Hayman’. From Hayman I returned to Adelaide with priceless experience and a wealth of knowledge to begin my employment with Hyatt Regency Adelaide in 1994. After a short six month stint on Front Desk, I was lucky enough to be the successful applicant for a full time concierge role.
It was here I found my place in the hotel world! After completing a rooms management development programme in 1998 and then beginning to move up the rooms division ladder, I quickly realized ‘the little black desk’ in the lobby was really where I belonged and returned as Chief Concierge in 2000.
My personal philosophy is ‘ I don’t profess to know everything, but I will make it my business to find out!’ There isn’t anything to date I have not been able to achieve. One of my most memorable requests was arranging a cricket match and barbeque (of course with very little notice) for a high profile entertainment group (including sourcing the oval, equipment, food and beverage).
All in a days work of a concierge – that’s what makes it so exciting. Each day is a new one and an opportunity to exceed a guest’s expectations to make their stay one they will remember always.
