I grew up in Munich, Germany and, after finishing high school completed a traditional European hotel traineeship at the Park Hilton Munich where for 2 ½ years I rotated through all areas of hotel operations as a line staff member and gained limited supervisory experience in selected departments. After completing the traineeship and gaining a Diploma in Hotel Operations from the Chamber of Commerce I continued working at the Park Hilton as a front office cashier.

After 1 ½ years I transferred to the role of banquets administrator to gain experience in the area of food and beverage and to help me decide if I wanted to follow a career in the rooms division or food and beverage. 1 ½ years later I left Hilton and starting working as a flight attendant and later as a purser. In 1990 I migrated to Australia with my Australian-born husband a started working at the Parkroyal Dockside in Brisbane as a receptionist, a position I held first on a full time and then on a casual basis until 1997.

I December 1997 I was appointed as Head Concierge at the hotel (by then no longer run as a Parkroyal but privately as the Dockside Apartment Hotel) as the first female Head Concierge in Brisbane. The hotel changed to serviced apartments in 2000 and no longer needed a Chief Concierge and I transferred to the Carlton Crest Hotel (now Citigate Sebel) in the position of Assistant Manager. In 2002 I was promoted to Assistant Front Office Manager but I resigned from that position in 2004 as I did no longer enjoy it mostly because of lack of guest contact.

I was then offered the position of Chief Concierge at the Carlton Crest. In April 2006 I transferred to the Brisbane Marriott Hotel. I am married (my husband is a geologist) with two children (16 year old daughter and 14 year old son) and in my spare time I love spending time with my family and friends, reading, going to the movies and to the gym.
