Developing my craft at the Regent/Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney from the early age of 18, I quickly learned the finer arts of customer service and five-star hospitality standards.

During my four years at that property, my mentor Jacques Stoupel encouraged growth by dropping words of wisdom while as Bell-hop/Porter, Commissionaire and all the way to Assistant Concierge. Porter tasks such as making guest deliveries and/or pickups to learn the city on foot as well as establishing a rapport with various elite restaurants as Assistant Concierge expanded my wealth of knowledge of this harbour city.

Since December 2000, I have been the Chief Concierge at the BLUE Hotel Sydney, A Taj Hotels Resort & Palace (Formerly the W Sydney). Not being familiar with W’s unique style or the exceptional Woolloomooloo Wharf layout, putting all the policies and procedures together was a rewarding challenge. The team is an integral role to the success of any hotel environment, from the Porters & GSAs through to Concierge.

Over the years I have personally fostered the growth of capable assistants, doormen, and porters. This role requires thinking outside the box as the requests we field are not always as straight forward as they may seem. Building relationships makes the communication process between guest and concierge seamless.

Being a member of Les Clefs d’Or allows us to share experiences and ideas, constantly improving our service and the profession I have come to honour, love, and respect through 14 years of service.
