May 2010
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Since my last message in February, we have seen several distressing events around the globe; Haiti, Chile, Mexico, China and more recently Iceland. These natural disasters have certainly seen us busy contacting and wishing our colleagues and relatives support in every way possible. A simple call to a ‘friend in need’ can certainly make all the difference when passing on our best wishes.
Today, we are almost half way through 2010 and very much looking forward to the two major activities taking place over the next few months. In New Zealand, members are excited and prepared to host the 16th AGM in Queenstown during June 4 – 6, 2010.
As some of you also are aware, in 2013 we will welcome many international colleagues to the 60th UICH Congress in this renowned for adventure and sophisticated holiday resort. It will be a great opportunity to show case not only Queenstown during the five day conference, but also Oceania. I am certain many will take at least two weeks for their travels, which without a doubt our countries will offer the very best to create an unforgettable and memorable experience.
In July, Sydney will shine once again, when this well known city will host the Australian AGM over July 16 - 18, 2010. Local members are also organizing to have a ‘Gala Night’ on the same weekend, which will give all of the Australian members a chance to celebrate in camaraderie another successful year. I am certain that both organizing committees are planning a weekend of networking, education, fun and friendship.
Finally, we look forward to welcoming our new members to their first Annual General Meeting. I sincerely hope that you all will take this opportunity to share your vision, passion and enthusiasm, which makes us a unique international group amongst all professional associations within the hospitality industry.
As always, look forward to seeing you all again soon.
My best regards
In friendship
