Having grown up in a rural part of the UK I moved to London in 1988 and my first job was as a Doorman at The Marlborough Hotel, where I was moved onto the desk as Assistant Head Concierge, leaving in 1992 to pursue a career outside of the hospitality industry.
I soon saw the error of my ways and returned after a year, spending the next five years at The Langham Hilton as it was then, again as Assistant Head Concierge. After a few years at The Washington-Mayfair Hotel as Head Concierge and The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel as Assistant, I moved to Perth, WA with my wife and started working at The Parmelia Hilton Perth. Five years have now passed and I am loving everything about The Parmelia, Perth and the West Australian lifestyle.
I strongly believe that the role of the Concierge is to be a friend, a confidante and an advisor. It is a fantastic job to have, and one in which I never tire of interacting with our guests.
