The Hungarian section of Les Clefs d’Or was founded in 1983. Under the leadership of the legendary concierge Andras Gunst, we joined the International association in 1985. Our mission is to share with our guests the very best of our country through our personal experiences.
Hungary and Budapest have plenty to offer and it always surprises the travellers. Many of them return to keep on exploring and enjoy more of the local hospitality. You can find amazing cultural programs all year round, such as the Budapest Spring Festival (a 3 week long music festival concentrating on classical music) or CAFe Budapest (Contemporary Art Festival always happening in September and October).
Fun activities are available for all ages, like the Sziget Festival (a big summer music festival for young people), experiencing one of the “ruin pubs” of the city or enjoying a private boat ride on the Danube. Visiting one of our many wine regions like Lake Balaton can be combined with fun sailing trip or an underground boating adventure.
The local gastronomy is going through a revolution. Hungarian food used to be very heavy and the restaurants were not experimenting with anything new. Nowadays local chefs are offering local food that has become a lot more cosmopolitan, trendy, healthy and diverse, yet keeping the traditional elements of our cuisine and not forgetting our roots.
Our 70 members are eager to help with giving you personal suggestions so that you return home with memories that will last forever.
