About Matthew…

Coming from a family of restaurateurs, hospitality has always played a big role in my life. It wasn’t until I started working in my family’s restaurant at the age of 18, did I truly find my passion for the industry. The very next year I left university to take up studies at Le Cordon Bleu to study a Bachelor of Business: Hotel Management, completing my placement at The Sheraton Port Douglas and The Westin Melbourne.

After completing my studies I returned to The Westin Melbourne and spent a total of 7 years learning all the tricks to the trade in different departments in the hotel and eventually made my way to Concierge. With the guidance of my General Manager and Chief Concierge, I became more and more passionate about my role and knew this was my calling. I wanted to become a Les Clefs d’Or member and in 2019, I was able to make my dream a reality.

In the following year I moved to Crown Towers Melbourne, one of only two hotels in Australia to be rated as a Forbes 5 Star hotel at the time. Within the same year I became the Australian Candidate for the Les Clefs d’Or Award, a reward dedicated in honouring young leaders in our society and was to represent Australia at our International Congress in Delhi, India. Later the same year, I also became the Webmaster and State Director of Victoria & Tasmania of Australia.

I am proud to say my highlights throughout my tenure were; working closely with our suppliers to navigate our industry through Covid, restarted the Victorian & Tasmanian Prospective Workshops and our Tourism Expo in Victoria and as Webmaster completely updated the Australian Les Clefs d’Or website.

Until this day, my passion for Concierge and the hospitality industry continues inspires me to promote every aspect of the amazing city I live in today.
